Razed…

Samsons Hardware occupied this site on the Chena River since 1904, a mere three years after the founding of Fairbanks by E.T. Barnette.  Samsons Hardware survived the fire that nearly leveled early Fairbanks, floods which covered the Tanana Valley and a century of harsh Alaskan winters.  It was no match for a bumbling bureaucracy however, and in 2009 was razed to make way for a bridge which will eventually connect Barnette Street with Illinois Street.  Here’s a short video of the demolition.

A Fairbanks fixture…

A Fairbanks fixture

A Fairbanks fixture

Jackovich Industrial has been a fixture in Fairbanks since ’69. Originally servicing the petroleum industry, they are the ‘go to’ folks for anything equipment for the petroleum, timber, mining & construction industry in Alaska. A good old fashioned family owned success story.
