It took me a few years of living with a manic Mother Nature to adjust to her bouts of constant daylight/darkness. Now, we think little of taking a midnight stroll or standing wast deep in a stream at 3:00AM making a fly dance across the top of the water. I will confess, however, to feeling a little like a big ‘ol mushroom long about January. Thank heavens for full spectrum natural light light-bulbs.
This was taken in Denali National Park toward the end of August ’09. We were well into the transition from summer to fall and losing light quickly. We had spent a beautiful afternoon hiking (ok, walking on a dirt/gravel path) along the Savage River Trail and forgot about light until it started to slip away. I shot this on our way back… it didn’t seem to last long, but was a beautiful sight just the same.
