A walk in the park…
Since the weather reports were calling for a nice day in Interior Alaska, Kathy and I headed off this morning for Denali Park. Traffic headed south was light (all the tourists have headed for warmer climates) and the scenery was just beautiful. Most of the bright fall colors have turned into dull winter browns.
As expected, there wasn’t a lot of activity in the Park. We only saw a few crews doing some road work and a half dozen cars or so making the trip back to Savage River. We didn’t see any bears on this trip, but the moose were out in full force. At about milepost 10 we saw a herd; three bulls (one a decent size) and at least 7 cows. It was the most we’ve seen traveling together in a while. They put on a show for about 20 minutes before wandering off. A brief, but enjoyable show.
