Hiking along the Chena River

As you can see, all the leaves are definitely gone from the trees, but as of this writing, we are still snow-less. No doubt Mother Nature will change that soon. Kathy and I spent the afternoon yesterday hiking along the river enjoying the scenery. The only wildlife we saw was a cow moose about a mile down the trail on the other side of the river, but she was a little bashful. About the time I got the camera up to take her picture, she tuned and trotted off into the woods. Maybe next time…

Originally from Mississippi and North Carolina, Alaska has been home for almost three decades. Having lived, worked and played tourist across the globe, we are most at home in the Last Frontier. While we occasionally miss the warm weather and beaches of the Carolinas we can’t imagine living anywhere else. I could do with a little less -40 degree weather though, if you have any pull with old man winter.
